Psalm 23. Domini est terra |
God's triumphal entry |
Who is worthy to go along on this procession? Psalm 23 is a dramatic poem in two parts: 1) the procession with the Ark; 2) before the gates of Mount Sion. |
I. Ascending Mount Sion |
Dómini est terra, et plenitúdo
ejus: * orbis terrárum, et univérsi qui hábitant in eo. |
The earth is the Lord's, and all the fulness thereof; * the
compass of the world, and they that dwell therein. |
Who may approach the Lord? |
3 Quis ascéndet in montem Dómini? * aut quis stabit in loco sancto
ejus? |
3 Who shall ascend into the mountain of the Lord? * or who shall
stand
in his holy place? |
II. Entry into the sanctuary |
7 Attóllite portas príncipes vestras, et elevámini portæ æternáles:
* et introíbit Rex glóriæ. |
7 Lift up your gates, O ye princes; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting
gates; * and the King of glory shall come in. |
