Movable Feasts of
The Roman Martyrology

The movable Feasts are not mentioned in the Martyrology because they are kept on different days of every year.  They are placed here in order that after naming the day of the month, each one may be announced before reading the Martyrology of the day on which it shall occur in that year.

 
On the Saturday before the first Sunday in Advent
Domínica prima Advéntus Dómini nostri Jesu Christi.
 
The first Sunday of the Advent of our Lord Jesus Christ.
 
On the Saturday before the Sunday which falls between January 2nd and 5th inclusive;
of if there be no Sunday between those days, then on January 1st

On the Saturday before the Sunday which may fall on the 7th to the 12th of January inclusive,
and if there be no Sunday therein, then on the weekday which is nearest to the Office of the Holy Family

On the Saturday before Palm Sunday
Domínica Palmárum, quando Dóminus noster Jesus Christus, juxta Zacharíæ prophetíam, sedens super pullum ásinæ, Hierosólymam intrávit; cui turba cum ramis palmárum óbviam venit.
 
Palm Sunday, when our Lord Jesus Christ, according to the prophecy of Zacharias, entered into Jerusalem, seated upon the foal of an ass, and was met by the multitude bearing palms.
 
On Wednesday of Holy Week
Cena Domínicæ, quando Christus Jesus, prídie quam pro nostra salúte crucifigerétur, mystéria Córporis et Sánguinis sui Discípulis trádidit celebránda.
 
The Lord's Supper, when Christ Jesus, the day before he was crucified for our salvation, gave to his disciples the mysteries of his Body and Blood, to be celebrated by them.
 
On Easter Sunday, before naming the day of the month
Hac die, quam fecit Dóminus, Solémnitas solemnitátum, et Pascha nostrum: Resurréctio Salvatóris nostri Jesu Christi secúndum carnem. On this day, which the Lord hath made, is the Solemnity of Solemnities, and our Pasch; the Resurrection of our Saviour Jesus Christ according to the flesh.
Then the day of the month is announced and the Martyrology for the following day is read according to the usual manner.
 
On the Monday within the Octave of Easter when Easter Sunday occurs on April 25th
