The Ordo

Click on the month for details on the Rubrics for each day of the Divine Office

July 2008

The Ordo is the Liturgical Calendar of the Church according to a given calendar year.  For any given day, the Ordo contains a listing of the feast to be celebrated with its liturgical rank and colour, together with the liturgical rubrics to be observed in the recitation of the Divine Office.

To find the Daily Collect and other office proper to a particular Feastday, go to the Ordo for the current month and click on the underlined name of the current liturgical day.

Please note that this Ordo takes as its frame of reference the Universal Kalendar of the Church, which does not take into account feasts proper to a particular nation, diocese, or religious order.

For the benefit of those who need a more complete Ordo Recitandi that includes the daily instructions for Holy Mass as well as the Divine Office, we recommend that you purchase the annual Ordo from St. Lawrence Press in England.  Their website has a sample of their Ordo, which is in the traditional Latin format, and instructions on how to obtain a hard copy, as well as an interesting comparison of the Roman Liturgy at different times in its history.
