The Holy Apostles Peter and Paul

Commemorations at Vespers and Lauds during the Octave

Vespers

Lauds

On days in the Octave and on the Octave Day, the Psalms with their Antiphons are said at all the Hours, and at Matins the Nocturn verses also, from the occurrent week day, as in the Psalter: the I Nocturn Lessons are read from the occurrent Scripture, with their Responds of the Season; the II and III Nocturn Lessons are those assigned as proper to each day; but NOTE, That the Reponds to the II and III Nocturn Lessons are said from the Common of Apostles, as in all the rest of the Office, except what is designated below as proper.

At Both Vespers

Ant:  Petrus Apóstolus et Paulus doctor Géntium, ipsi nos docuérunt legem tuam, Dómine.

Ant:  Peter the Apostle and Paul the Doctor of the Gentiles, they have taught us thy Law, O Lord.

V.  Constítues eos príncipes super omnem terram.
R.  Mémores erunt nóminis tui, Dómine.

V.  Thou shalt make them princes over all the earth.
R.  They shall remember thy Name, O Lord.

Oremus.
Deus, qui hodiérnam diem Apostolórum tuórum Petri et Pauli martyrio consecrásti : da Ecclésiæ tuæ, eórum in ómnibus sequi præcéptum; per quos religiónis sumpsit exórdium.  Per Dóminum.

Let us pray.
O God, who didst hallow his day by the martyrdom of thine holy Apostles Peter and Paul, grant unto thy Church, whose foundations thou wast pleased to lay by their hands, the grace always in all things to remain faithful to their teaching.  Through.
