De Epístola prima ad Corínthios

De colléctis autem, quæ fiunt in sanctos, sicut ordinávi ecclésiis Galátiæ, ita et vos fácite.  Per unam sábbati, unusquísque vestrum apud se sepónat, recóndens quod ei beneplacúerit : ut non, cum vénero, tunc colléctæ fiant.  Cum autem præsens fúero : quos probavéritis per epístolas, hos mittam perférre grátiam vestram in Jerúsalem.  Quod si dignum fúerit, ut et ego eam, mecum ibunt.

Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye.  Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.  And when I come, whomsoever ye shall approve by your letters, them will I send to bring your liberality unto Jerusalem.  And if it be meet that I go also, they shall go with me.

V.  Tu autem, Dómine, miserére nobis.

R.  Tria sunt múnera pretiósa, quæ obtulérunt Magi Dómino in die ista, et habent in se divína mystéria : * In auro, ut ostendátur Regis poténtia : in thure, Sacerdótem magnum consídera : et in myrrha, Domínicam sepultúram.
V.  Salútis nostræ auctórem Magi veneráti sunt in cunábulis, et de thesáuris suis mysticas ei múnerum spécies obtulérunt.

R.  Three are the precious gifts, of divine and mystic meaning, which the Wise Men at this time presented to the Lord : *  Gold the King's Majesty betokeneth ; and mark ye how incense sheweth the Great High Priest, and myrrh the Lord's burial.
V.  Salvation's Author did the Wise Men worship in his cradle, and from their greatest treasures they made an offering of gifts of mystic meaning.

V.  The Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said.

Now I will come unto you, when I shall pass through Macedónia: for I do pass through Macedónia.  And it may be that I will abide, yea, and winter with you, that ye may bring me on my journey whithersoever I go.  For I will not see you now by the way; but I trust to tarry a while with you, if the Lord permit.  But I will tarry at Ephesus until Pentecost.  For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.

Si autem vénerit Timótheus, vidéte ut sine timóre sit apud vos : opus enim Dómini operátur, sicut et ego.  Ne quis ergo illum spernat : dedúcite autem illum in pace, ut véniat ad me : exspécto enim illum cum frátribus.  De Apóllo autem fratre vobis notum fácio, quóniam multum rogávi eum, ut veníret ad vos cum frátribus : et útique non fuit volúntas, ut nunc veníret : véniet autem, cum ei vácuum fúerit.  Vigiláte, state in fide, viríliter ágite, et confortámini.  Omnia vestra in caritáte fiant.

Now if Timothy come, see that he may be with you without fear: for he worketh the work of the Lord, as I also do.  Let no man therefore despise him: but conduct him forth in peace, that he may come unto me: for I look for him with the brethren.  As touching our brother Apollos, I greatly desired him to come unto you with the brethren: but his will was not at all to come at this time; but he will come when he shall have convenient time.  Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.  Let all your things be done with charity.

The Office of Matins ends after the Third Respond.  The Te Deum is not said, and Lauds normally follows immediately, beginning with the Opening Versicles.  Otherwise, the Conclusion of Matins is read, according to the Rubrics.

After the conclusion of the First Nocturn, if today be within the Octave of Epiphany, the Second Nocturn is said as on the Feast.  If today be after the Octave Day of Epiphany, however, the Second Nocturn is begun according to the current weekday.
