The Rubrics for the Pre-Lenten Season |
|||
|
From the end of Vespers on the Saturday before Septuagesima Alleluia is entirely omitted from the Office. In the Opening Versicles after the Gloria Patri, it is replaced with Laus tibi Domine, Rex æternæ gloriæ. In the Sunday Office and Office of the Season, there is no Te Deum at the end of Matins, and it is replaced by the 9th Respond. Lauds 2 is said, and at Prime the fourth Psalm is added as in the Psalter. At Vespers, the Ant. on Magn. is proper each day. In Ferial Office the Ferial Preces are not said. Dominical Preces are said in Ferial Office and whenever the Suffrage of the Saints has been said at Lauds or Vespers. After Ash Wednesday, however, Ferial Preces are said in Ferial Office. The Office of Septuagesimatide is said until None of the Saturday after Quinquagesima, after which the Lenten Office is said at all Sunday and Ferial Offices. |
